Officer Grubbs was shot and mortally wounded while searching two robbery suspects for concealed weapons at the corner of East Market Street and Johns Avenue at 7:10 PM. Officer Grubbs died in the hospital four days later.

Dep. Marshall Arthur A Doubledee

Deputy Marshal Doubledee was stabbed to death after he and another deputy marshal arrested two escapees from the Kenmore Jail at the intersection of Steiner Street and Sweitzer Street in Akron.
